Killeavy Castle Wedding Photographer
There’s something pretty special about arriving at Killeavy Castle Estate on a wedding morning.
Sitting at the foot of Slieve Gullion in County Armagh, you’ve got the castle itself, beautiful grounds, woodland and the walled garden all in one location.
It looks impressive, but it can also feel surprisingly relaxed — which is exactly what I want from a wedding venue.
Killeavy Castle Wedding Photography
For me, photographing a wedding isn’t about spending the entire day creating perfectly posed photographs.
It’s about noticing what’s actually happening.
The nerves before the ceremony. Your dad seeing you for the first time. Someone laughing when they probably shouldn’t be during the ceremony. Friends catching up over a drink. The chaos when everyone finally hits the dance floor.
Those little bits in between are what tell the story properly.
My job is to document them without making you feel like there’s a camera in your face all day.
Castle, Gardens and Slieve Gullion
When we do head out for some portraits, Killeavy gives us plenty of options.
The historic castle is the obvious backdrop, but there’s also the landscaped walled garden, estate and surrounding scenery.
Rather than trying to use absolutely everything, I’d much rather pick a couple of locations with great light and keep things moving.
No awkward poses. No standing around wondering what to do with your hands.
Just the two of you taking a little bit of time away from the madness while I create some natural portraits.
Let the Wedding Happen
One of the best pieces of advice I can give couples is not to over-plan their photographs.
Leave some space for things to happen.
Because it’s often the unplanned stuff that ends up becoming your favourite photograph.
If you’re planning a wedding at Killeavy and want your photographs to feel natural, modern and genuinely like you, that’s exactly how I like to work.
